Radish cake, also known as turnip cake, is a popular Chinese dim sum dish that’s both savory and satisfying.

Steps

1
Done

In a large bowl, combine rice flour, wheat starch, salt, and white pepper. Slowly add in the water, stirring constantly to create a smooth batter.

2
Done

Heat the vegetable oil in a wok over medium-high heat. Add the dried shrimp, Chinese sausage, and scallions, and sauté until fragrant.

3
Done

Add the grated radish and continue to stir-fry for a few minutes until the radish has softened.

4
Done

Add the oyster sauce and soy sauce to the wok and mix well.

5
Done

Slowly pour in the batter while stirring continuously, making sure there are no lumps.

6
Done

Cook the mixture over low heat, stirring constantly, until the batter thickens and becomes smooth.

7
Done

Pour the mixture into a greased 8-inch square baking dish and steam over high heat for 30-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

8
Done

Remove the dish from the steamer and allow it to cool for a few minutes before cutting into small squares.

9
Done

Heat a non-stick pan over medium-high heat and add a little oil. Pan-fry the radish cake squares until they turn golden brown and crispy on both sides.

10
Done

Serve hot, garnished with chopped scallions and a drizzle of soy sauce.
